Week 10 Greetings!!!

Hey y'all;

Now that we have reached the final week and this term is over; I would like to reflect on the past ten weeks. In the beginning I was dreading another writing class but now I do have to admit that it was not as bad as I anticipated. I really have learned alot of things this term and the extra help with APA. I had some trouble in the beginning when it came to choosing a topic because I really wanted to write about domestic violence but soon found out it had to be medical related (what a bummer!!) I imagine I still could have wrote about this and tied medical into the topic but I just did not want to get into all the psychology that goes along with this topic. However, I did have fun researching and learning about Autism. Now that I am finished with the paper I have found that this disorder has touched my heart. For example...I was watching American Idol this Wednesday night and their was a man that auditioned; the only reason this man auditioned was because he wanted to make a better life for his family but especially his autistic son. After this mans' performance I found myself crying through the whole audition. I do not know why I cried but I believe it had something to do with the things I learned and what the parents and child goes through with this disease. All in all it was a great learning experience.


Now for the advice for incoming students...
I would first have to tell them to pick their topic wisely. Also do not wait till the last minute to do research or write. You have to constantly research you topic and write things down all the time. Lastly, Be patient and do not Stress!! this is hard thing for most people an was very hard for me. Always keep positive thoughts and be like the little engine that could and keep telling yourself that you can do this.

On the personal side of things....

I attended a meeting tonight that really opened my eyes to fire prevention in our homes. I learned that throwing a 9-volt battery and SOS pad/steel wool (dry or wet) in the garbage can start a fire. The gentlemen showed us how fast this could cause a fire. I also learned that the smoke detectors that we have in our homes that are mandated by the fire Marshall's office is a joke. Did you know that these items we put so much trust in fail to work when we need them most? A video was showed to us and the couple in the video lost their 2 yr old son in a fire started by a baby monitor. The smoke detector did not go off till 16 minutes after the fire had started. This is sad!! According to the statistics you have approximately 1 to 2 minutes to get out of your house. Now if you only have that short period of time to get out; how in the world would you know about the fire if the smoke detector fails to work? You Would not know and it is sad to say it would be 14 minutes to late for you to find out because of a faulty smoke detector. I will leave you with this most of us do not read the owners manual that comes with these smoke alarms; I firmly suggest you read those because if you do, you will find some amazing information that basically tells you these smoke detectors are not worth your time or families money!!

Week 9 Greeting!!!

Hey Y'all;

We have finally reached the last leg of the race for this term. Although ending another term is a good thing it is also sad too. I have become to know alot of you and have enjoyed reading your blogs and reading the things that you have been going through has given me the strength to push forward. I know this might sound a little silly but it's true. Now that my paper is almost done; I would have to say that I feel accomplished and deathly tired. The paper did not make me tired just the chore of schoolwork and kiddos running around not to mention the load of housework that I have each day. With four kids and a husband the laundry is never done!!! lol

I still feel the same way about writing as I did in the beginning of the term and That is I just plain down right HATE IT!!!! I never have been one to write very much. I have never keep a journal nor anything that I had to write alot in. I do have to say that I have really enjoyed writing on the blog. I think that is because I do not have to worry about being politically correct; just have to watch my language. lol

I have already decided to do some research on the nations water supply. I have seen many interesting stories on the Internet and on the telly tube that have tickled my curious bone. I can't wait to find out if the water that is running in my sink could be doing harm to me and my family. I am going to keep posting on this blog about my findings and such. so stayed tuned!!!

Week 8 Greetings!!!!

Hey y'all

This week we have been learning how to us the paramedical method of revision. I have found that this is real hard for me to do. I feel like this is trying to changed the way I want my words to come across/or how I want to say them. I also am having a hard time in deleting the so called no-no words and replacing them with something else or rewriting the sentence completely.

I am having a great time writing on this blog,the only thing is I wished I had more comments from my classmates. I still do not know if I am doing this correctly? More comments would be a good thing that way I know that people are getting a better understanding of who I am and what type of person I am. After this term I am going to continue to keep this blog and update it periodically; that way I can keep up with everyone that keeps theirs and they can keep up with how I am doing in my future classes.

On a personal note...

I am so glad that the holidays have came to close and classes are starting back up. This break has made me a bit confused and lazy. I was running on a tight schedule and had everything planned out and now the break has messed that up a little. I can't believe this term is almost over and my college education is moving right along. Now I have exactly one year till graduation and if I continue to keep the current success I have I will graduate with honors!!!! On the weather side in Kentucky, they are predicted some snow accumulation for us on Wednesday night into Thursday. I am so excited about his it has been a long time since we had a good snow fall.
